Harun Ekinoglu
Visiting Researcher, Urban Design Lab, 2014 – 2015
Harun Ekinoglu is an Urban Designer at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Advisory Office. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Bilkent University and Master’s degree from the Politecnico di Milano in Urban Design with honors (2006), Harun and his team received a UNESCO award in the Urban Design Competition on Historic District Renewal and Design Strategy organized by UNESCO and UN-HABITAT World Urban Forum III in 2006. Later he has been involved with various national and international architectural, industrial, and urban design projects within the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Recently Harun has been a TUBITAK Fellow Visiting Scholar at Columbia University (2014 – 2015) Earth Institute Urban Design Lab. Ekinoglu has been the coordinator of Istanbul’s Candidacy for “UNESCO City of Design”. Currently, he is a Ph.D. candidate at Istanbul Technical University. His Ph.D. research is about the analysis of urban spatial complexity using information entropy. Ekinoglu recently shared his research with the scientific community in CAADRIA2017 (Conference of Computer Aided Architectural Design Research in Asia) in Suzhou, China and in SS11 (11th Space Syntax Symposium) in Lisbon, Portugal.
