Impacts of New York City Waste on the 125th Street BID
This report, produced by the Urban Design Lab (UDL) for the use of the 125th Street Business Improvement District (BID), aims to understand how waste in New York City impacts 125th Street in Harlem. The history of waste on 125th street is considered within the broader context of New York City waste and the industry of waste collection as a whole. The report highlights key aspects of the city’s current waste system, focusing on potential opportunities for further investigation with the 125th Street BID, and concludes with recommendations for next steps on compliance, monitoring and enforcement, reducing waste, reducing truck traffic pollution, awareness, education, and publicity.
